NARRATIVE
She stands with her dog and dreams of a journey into America and sees the Moon hanging blue white over distant snow covered peaks. A city nestles comfortably beneath their jagged majesty, floating on the Bay as the early morning fog lifted. In the distance an eagle hooks left past a great and golden bridge and heads across the Bay towards them. Autumn bursts orange yellow on a field of green. She dreamed America.
BACKGROUND
"Golden Gate" officially begins my "I Dreamed America" series. Paintings which make tangible the collective dream that is America, made clear in the song, "America the Beautiful", or "This Land is Your Land", both songs I sang as a kid, perhaps you did too, before we all became jaded and hurt.
