NARRATIVE
In the land of low-riders the shiny old Oldsmobile shimmied and shook past the even older pink adobe its windows boarded up waiting for its new owner to dress it up. Caught in a moment just this side of history, she stood watching the late afternoon activities on the old Plaza next to the even older church, the one the Spanish built to tame the natives who didn't want to be tamed.
BACKGROUND
One day I spied this old pink adobe house just up the road from my studio in Santa Cruz on the High Road to Taos. I knew it would eventually make it into paint. The shadows had to be just right. I parked my old truck at the nearby bodega and braved my way to the busy intersection. No sidewalks here, so I stood next to the traffic light as I adjusted my lens. Later at the studio I began the composition. I didn't know exactly where it was headed, but I knew I wanted green to contrast the pink and to bring some history into the history ... and this is how it ended up.
