NARRATIVE
I spy an old truck, bright and yellow and just a bit comical, over hill and dale it comes down a dusty old trail. In the distance a micro burst moves quickly over the crystal white peaks of the Sangre de Christo with a bit of rainbow adding a burst of color.
DESCRIPTION
In these parts, New Mexico to be certain, storms form and move quickly, micro bursts they're called. I caught this one over the Sangre de Christo Mountains one day while venturing between Santa Fe and Taos, just the other side of Espanola. It began as just a landscape, but I felt it lacked the special zing I was looking for. Enter the yellow truck. I had already done the road so it only seemed natural and just the day before I had seen a piece of rainbow out on the high desert and I thought why not. In the end we have "Sangre de Christo Passage with Yellow Truck and Rainbow", by Art West, though I abbreviated the name.

I remember sitting out in front of the Tetons in the mid 60s pushing some paint around on a piece of masonite. To be a painter you have to paint! And folks now consider me a master oil painter. I've been painting the West for over 40 years and a...
