Artist's Description
Digital painting by Art West from his original oil paintings. Available as a print only.
This painting combines the real with the imaginary, the every day with the fantastic, a utopic parody (which translates as nowhere land or good land) of the American favorite fairytale by L. Frank Baum, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", now in the public domain. Art James West, as part of his "I Dreamed America", combines wonderfully the American Southwest on the left, and Oz on the right with a hot air balloon juxtaposed between the real and the imagined. A newlywed couple departs an old yellow Chevrolet pickup truck parked firmly in the American Southwest and journeys down the yellow brick road into Oz towards the Emerald City glistening green in the distance, their marriage in fact a galactic union as represented by the great Blue Planet and Moon.

I've been painting the West for over 40 years and a...
