Artist's Description

Divergent Paths, oils by Art West

NARRATIVE

"I like roads. And not that they have to lead anywhere in particular, just that they could. Often it's better to not have a map, to not know exactly where you will go or when you will arrive.

"One day after taking a left at Trinidad, Colorado I headed towards the mountains. A beautiful day. Perfect, really. And the road twisted and it turned with nary a car. As I went, I encountered other roads, not knowing exactly where they would go. Each road with it's own story, where destiny happens.

"Deciding which road to take will change your destiny, for better or for worse. It's a risk. I like the risk. It's fun. In a plane you can see ahead to where your headed. On a road you can't. I like roads. Do you?"

I've been painting the West for over 40 years and a...
